Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers – National Register
The National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers (NRPSPT) recruits, trains and promotes Personal Trainers across the UK that are qualified to work effectively with people with Parkinson’s. It provides an invaluable support to the UK Parkinson’s community. It is run by 4D Life in partnership with Parkinson’s UK and supported by CIMSPA, the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.
The benefits of the right exercise, nutrition, functional training and lifestyle programmes for people with Parkinson’s are now well evidenced and well documented. But there are still huge gaps in the support available to people with Parkinson’s to help them understand and implement the right programmes for them as individuals. A Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainer offers the ideal vehicle to help bridge some of these gaps.
National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers
The Register has been created with the goal of ensuring everyone with Parkinson’s in the UK has access to a Parkinson’s specialist personal trainer, should they wish to work with one. It also offers a clear pathway for Personal Trainers to develop their careers and knowledge.
The NRPSPT is much more than just a database of Parkinson’s specialist personal trainers. We recruit and train personal trainers in areas where there are currently no specialists. We then actively connect them with people with Parkinson’s.
4D Life founder Nick Berners-Price has been living with a neurological condition since 2006 and is passionate about helping people with Parkinson’s to help manage their condition through exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle.
“A Personal Trainer who is a member of the NRPSPT will be able to design and evolve an exercise programme that is optimal for you as an individual. They will be able to teach you how to get the many benefits available from MOVEMENT, including cardio, strength, mobility and flexibility training. And how to slow down the progression of Parkinson’s using these techniques.
They will also be able to use the 4D Life Programme to work with you on your:
NUTRITION – including food, water intake, supplements, timings
FUNCTION – including breathing, digestion, balance, posture, walking technique
LIFESTYLE – including sleep, stress, inactivity, toxins, drugs (non medical)”

Why a National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers?
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. 1 in 37 people alive today in the UK will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in their lifetime. Current medications cannot slow the progression of the condition, they can only mask the symptoms.
The only proven disease modifying treatment is exercise. Medication cannot yet slow progression – only exercise can.
Many people diagnosed with Parkinson’s have no experience or knowledge of exercise, and do not know which type, dose or intensity will help the most. Working with a Parkinson’s specialist personal trainer offers the ideal solution to this problem.
The National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers is the only organisation training Personal Trainers, and connecting them to People with Parkinson’s.
The process of becoming a member of The NRPSPT will develop your skills, qualifications and experience.
The primary goal of The Register is to link People with Parkinson’s and suitably qualified and experienced Personal Trainers.
